Applying a feeding alley coating in one day.

Agricultural Levelling Coating 25 kg
Very strong, thickly applied, levelling coating for worn-out floors, such as feed passages and feeding alleys.
Feed passage/ alley coating has become an essential part of modern animal husbandry. These coatings offer a wide range of benefits for the feeding alley, where cattle are fed daily. From improved hygiene to increased efficiency and ease of work. Feed passage coatings have a positive impact on overall operations. Some key benefits of these coatings are outlined below.
Firstly, feed passage coatings offer improved hygienic conditions for livestock. Using a feed passage coating prevents bacteria, mould and other micro-organisms from adhering to the surface. This reduces the risk of disease and infection in livestock, promoting animal health and welfare. Moreover, the smooth yet anti-slip coating facilitates cleaning and keeping the feed passage clean. The feed passage is very easy to clean and slide feed on, resulting in higher levels of hygiene and quick maintenance.
Another advantage of feed passage coatings is their increased durability and abrasion resistance. The coatings are designed to withstand the intensive use of vehicles, robots, carts and feed wagons that traverse the feed passage on a daily basis. They are resistant to scratches, impact and acids or chemicals that can occur in feed or detergents. This significantly extends the life of the feed passage.
Applying a feed passage coating yourself can be very simple. Farmcoat Levelling Coating is available in various colours and finishes. From very smooth to highly anti-slip. Agrarian Levelling Coating is used to level, repair or renovate worn feed passages. It is also applied to protect new feed passages from further wear and tear.

Project: feed passage coating – Vriezeveen
In Vriezeveen, Farmcoat was recently applied to a new feed passage. Following an on-site visit by our technical adviser, we were able to make an appropriate recommendation suitable for this substrate. As the feed passage had not yet been worn in, we were able to recommend a thin chemically resistant and mechanically resistant layer. As the substrate was made of trowelled concrete, we recommended sanding the concrete layer first. The primer and grey coating were then applied in a day. The farmer was easily able to handle all this himself. To maintain a sleek finish, the feed passage was first neatly marked out with tape.

How long does it take to apply a feed passage coating?
Farmcoat is a two-layer floor coating consisting of a primer and a coating. Four hours after applying the primer, the coating can be applied. So you’ll be finished coating within a day. However, keep in mind that you should have already cleaned the feed passage thoroughly the day before so that it can dry properly before you start coating. After applying the coating, it should be allowed to dry/cure for 12 hours. So keep in mind that you cannot use the feed passage for at least a day and a half.
In what colours is the coating available?
Our coatings are offered transparent or in RAL 7001 (grey) as standard. On request and from a minimum total order of 50 kilos, you can choose any RAL or NCS colour.
Does the coating have anti-slip properties?
The coating offers a rough yet smooth finish. If you need an extra anti-slip finish, or even a very coarse anti-slip surface (for cattle to walk on), we can offer this on a customised basis.
How thick is the coating to be applied?
The feed passage coating can be applied in very thick layers. Assume that you will need up to 2 kilos per square metre. For very worn substrates, it has a levelling effect.
Is it easy to apply yourself?
Farmcoat is designed so that it can be easily applied by laymen/inexperienced persons. We supply detailed instructions with every order as standard, clearly describing the steps needed to apply the coating.
Which accessories do I need?
For anyone who will be coating, we recommend the following accessories:

- 2x large roller (25 cm)
- 1x small handle (10 cm)
